Cork owes some of its remarkable pressure and elasticity to the high percentage of air and to its impermeability. Its wide use as a sealant or in various joints; the insulation capacity from a thermal, acoustic and vibration point of view that allows several high value applications.
There are also some existing but lesser-known applications: interior of cricket and roller hockey balls, water sports boards, martial arts mats, interior coatings for submarines and exteriors for stealth aircraft, cleaning electrical insulators of energy, production of therapeutic agents, based on cork components, wood treatment products based on residues from the cork industry, paint additives to improve their mechanical and acoustic behavior, cosmetic compositions containing cork. These are, however, already existing applications.
